Weekend Football

I can't believe I've gone this long without blogging. I feel like I'm letting down my fans... sigh. Just kidding. Well, I've got a ton of stuff to blog, but before I go to bed, I thought I'd slap up some quick stuff about our weekend.

We watched Gil's team, the East Junior High Cougars, play football. They played against Star Valley, and won both the "A" and "B" games. It was a beautiful fall day, even though it was overcast. That great fall smell was in the air, like woodsmoke and other wonderful things. Gil played junior high football last year and this year. It wasn't a stellar experience this time around. He was kind of out of shape when practice started, and coach put him on the "B" team. I think he's either determined to be a lot better prepared next year, for the freshman football team (he'll be in high school next year - I'm so old!), or he might bail on the football concept. I'd sure like to see him give it another shot, because he's so good at motivating himself, I know he'd do a lot better next year if he put his mind to it. Don, if you read this, you should give him some pointers for greater speed, strength, and coordination. Fun pics:

Little cutie-pie loved holding the umbrellas. With this Wyoming wind, he got blown over a few times!

Dani was a great Connor-escort, running around the stadium with him so the mom could take pictures.

Connor had the most fun jumping in the puddles. At halftime he was so wet and frozen, he spent the rest of the game in the car with Dani, listening to his favorite songs on my new MP3 player and eating snacks.

It was such a beautiful overcast fall day. I wish I'd had more time that day to shoot pictures around town! Maybe I can get to that in the next few days!

Here's the support team!

After standing on the sidelines for an hour and a half and getting ignored by his coaches, Gil was probably feeling frustrated. Zen felt like Gil needed a pep talk, so he went down by the team and talked to Gil, making suggestions of how he could get his coach's attention. It must have worked, because coach put him in for a lot of plays after this.

Get 'em Gil!

There's my handsome boy! Click to get a bigger pic. It's better!

Okay... this comment is for Gil... Dude, you look hot! don't give up football! Football is so fun and I think that if you just stick with it, and make it on to the team in high school, you will not regret it at all. I look back at my high school experience and I wish that I would have been more involved with school spirit kinds of things. Besides.... Chicks can not resist a guy on the football team... I am sure that your mom wants to hear that! Anyways, it looks like you love football... so do what makes you happy! Love your silly Aunt/cousin/ um, what am I to you? second cousin or someting ...Katy

Dude, check out the fine specimen of burgeoning manhood! Too bad you can't put audio on your blog- we could all be impressed by Gil's post-puberty deep voice.

Gil, definitely go for football again next year. Dan and Don both played football all growing up and it was very pivotal in their development of a good work ethic, leadership, and discipline.

Plus, like Katy said, Chics dig it!

Becky, I can't believe you let Connor play with the umbrella. With that Wyoming wind, he could've ended up in the next county by the end of the football game! Yay for Dani being the babysitter and chasing the 2 year old around so Mom and Dad could watch the game. Dani, I wish you were here to watch Amelia for me while I work. Lily misses you tons. Big hug your way!
