Just a Time Log, Slow Day

Feel free to skip, mostly this is for me, kind of a challenge to see if I can keep doing it, even if it's not too detailed

Time Log -
**Note: I stayed up until 2am last night, because I'm a dork, so I slept in a little, until Emma woke up. Connor would sleep through the bombing of London, and doesn't usually get up until 9am.
8:00 am - woke up with Emma, got her a bottle & The Wonder Pets, and tried to doze off on the couch while she rotted her brain and played with toys on the coffee table, didn't really work, because she kept falling on her butt and fussing, so I got fed up and by 9am was up and around
9:00 am - fed Emma, dressed her, fed Connor after he got up, puttered around doing this and that, just don't remember, did check me email, but eventually I got around to cleaning off the kitchen/dining room table, which is the catch-all place in the house. I also cleaned up my sewing mess of the past week, folded all the leftovers, so I could tell what was left in prep for going to Salt Lake tomorrow
11:30 am - put Emma down for nap, got myself ready to exercise
12:00 pm to 12:30 pm - exercised on Gazelle
12:30 pm - helped Connor with this & that, showered & dressed
1:00 pm - Emma woke up, Connor & I ate lunch, I needed to find our 401K info for our refi, so I filed paperwork that had stacked up for months
2:50 pm - goofed off a little
3:15 pm - got an eBay package ready to mail
3:40 pm - Luke & his mom, Amy, stopped by to pick up a woobie, he wound up picking the dog woobie, instead of the frog woobie, now I have two frog woobies
4:00 pm - spent forever looking for these things I was going to take back to Radio Shack, finally gave up
4:40 pm - dropped package off at post office, went to Radio Shack to look for a replacement power adapter for my laptop, it was way too pricey, so I'll just get a generic one on Amazon for $25, went to the library, went to Wal-Mart, went to Smith's
6:15 pm - back home, we had tv dinner's and frozen entrees for dinner (some nights are like that, especially when Zen is gone, I feel less guilty)
7:00 pm - eating dinner, watching a movie, put Emma to bed at 7:30 pm, because she did not have a late afternoon nap, she woke up crying about an hour later, and I just held her and rocked her back to sleep, one of life's great pleasures is holding a baby and making them feel better, it's very satisfying, makes you feel useful
9:20 pm - read scriptures with kids, get Connor ready for bed
9:50 pm - write blog post, house was pretty clean yesterday, but is trashed again, will worry about it later, will finish movie & go to bed, so I won't be too tired tomorrow for the drive to Salt Lake in the morning

Finished Blankets & Woobies

Finished ladybug blanket & matching woobie. I totally want to keep them, they are so cute! I will have to do another one, but I think I will wait until I sell off this stuff in my craftroom, and I can buy the die to do rag quilts.

Detail of the machine quilting I did to tack the two pieces of flannel together. I don't put batting in the middle, but I do machine stitch something all over the blanket, so it won't shift into funky lumps over time.

I loved the frog fabric, so decided to make a froggy woobie, just for fun. I made two, and I'm giving one to Luke, a little boy from my daycare who loves to fondle the tag on his favorite stuffed animal. He always brought his stuffed animal with him to daycare. First it was Snoopy, and when that tag fell off, he brought a froggy.

Time Log -
6:30 am - alarm went off, ignored it
7:10 am - dragged myself out of bed, stand in front of the mirror & pluck facial hair (tmi?), find exercise clothes & earphones for mp3
7:45 am to 8:15 am - exercise
8:15 am to 9:30 am - start cleaning downstairs bathroom, Emma woke up
9:30 am - home appraiser came to do an appraisal on our home for a refi, house was a total disaster, and he took pictures, aaarrgghh!, what was I thinking letting the house get so messed up this weekend, I knew he was coming, monkeys!
9:40 am - finish cleaning downstairs bathroom
10:00 am to 10:40 am - feed Emma, help her & Connor get dressed, help Connor look for toys
10:40 to 12:00 pm - wash a few dishes, start cleaning upstairs bathroom, start blog post, finish cleaning upstairs bathroom (resolve to make the older kids clean bathrooms with me on Saturdays), put Emma down for nap
12:00 to 12:45 pm - shower & dress, fix hair
12:45 to 5:35 pm - eat breakfast/lunch, start on woobies project, help Connor with various things, sew the dog fabric woobies, sew the froggie woobies, help Emma, play with Connor, talk to Dani and Gil, feed Emma, put her down for a nap at five pm
5:35 pm - go to Smith's for the hash browns for funeral potatoes, a dinner request by Gil
5:55 pm - pick Dani up for ice skating lessons, drop her off, back home, start dinner
6:20 pm - go to Smith's again for corn flakes, realize my wallet is missing, look all over the car, inquire in the store, go pick up Dani from skating, who was lolly-gagging, back home, look all around the house again, get a flashlight, look all around the outside of the house, look around the car again, finally found wallet under the middle seat of the car (WHEW!!!!!)
7:45 pm - put the topping on the potatoes, serve dinner, try to finish the last frog woobie, Emma mooched potatoes from under the table as I sat at my sewing machine, it was cute, should have taken pictures.
9:05 pm - finally finish woobie (moral of the story: anything done with kids takes three times as long), read scriptures with kids, get kids ready for bed, we all pick up tv room
10:20 pm - come downstairs to answer eBay email and finish blog post
11:20 pm - go to bed

Time Log Conclusions

Wow, what is it about 10:30 pm, that I find myself blogging at the end of a long day? I keep telling myself to hurry up and write a post already, can't I go just a little bit faster? Can I write a post in 15 minutes or less? I kept a pretty good time log this week, mostly accurate, and I've come to a few conclusions:

1. Laundry SUCKS!!!
2. Laundry SUCKS!!!
3. Laundry... oops, I got a little worked up. There better not be laundry in the eternities, or dirty bathrooms, for that matter.
4. Housework takes too much time.
5. I accumulate too many projects. I can invent ten minutes of projects, for every minute I can actually spend on them. That's what the problem is in my craftroom. Must do an intervention on myself more often.
6. I definitely worked harder when I knew I had to write down what I did for everyone to see. Less goofing off. It's like the diet journal principle - you are less likely to eat the WHOLE chocolate cake, if you know you have be accountable for what you eat. So, while my blog posts might be a little boring, making everyone read about all the mundane things I do everyday, I'm going to keep it up a little while longer, to see if I can kick myself in the rear, and get rid of this stuff in my craftroom already.

Time Log - (very generalized)
6:50 am - woke up, got ready for church, attempted to work on dog blanket for Project Linus (hey, I figure I can do craft projects on Sunday if they are part of a service project), then Zen reminded me how late I am all the time, so I fed Emma, packed the church bag, dressed her, put on my stockings, photographed the finished woobie, and we all got out the door, just as late as usual (sat down in sacrament meeting at about 9:04). There's always a spot right up front for us, don't you know.
12:15 pm - home from church, I cooked sloppy joes for lunch, made some oatmeal cookies with peanut butter chips & nuts, fed Emma
1:50 pm - aahhhh, the blessed Sunday nap, just about the best thing in my week every week.
4:05 pm - woke up, fed Emma, put her down for a nap
4:35 pm - choir practice
5:30 pm - alternate the rest of the night with finishing the dog blanket and refereeing kids, eat lots of cookies, dinner is emfh
8:30 pm - read scriptures with fam, sew a few more stars in the dog blanket, bathe Emma, put her to bed, get Connor ready for bed, do a little picking up upstairs
10:20 pm - check email (gotta answer some fam email tomorrow), and write blog post
11:00 pm - go to bed

Let the Horses Run Free

Short post tonight. Just wanted to say that I did something today I've been thinking of for a while. I usually exercise on my Gazelle, kind of a striding machine, you've probably seen the infomercial at one time or another. Decent piece of equipment, especially for $400, at least that's what it was five or six years ago. It's helped my heart get into shape. I have good endurance. Not a lot of speed, but good endurance. Anyway, I've been wondering for a while how I would do on a treadmill, feeling like there were some big horses inside trying to get out and just run crazy. I found out today, and it was a pleasant surprise. I ran 3 MILES, yes, that's right, 3 MILES, that's a 5K run. Now, that probably doesn't sound very impressive, but consider I'm a 200+ lb. fat chick, and maybe that sounds a little better. I did it in 54 minutes, also not very impressive, in fact it's kind of just a fast walking space for a lot of people, but I did run it, not walk, and when I was done, it made me want to work up to five miles per hour. I wonder how long it would take?

7:30 am - wake up, get baby, fold some laundry, sit and think about the blanket project, and what to do about the ribbons for the woobies/taggies (should I make do with what I have, or buy some more when I'm in Salt Lake this Wednesday?
9:15 am - made the mistake of sitting on my bed, fell asleep again, then I woke up and got ready to go to the rec center
10:35 am - went to the rec center, tried to find a treadmill that worked, figured it out, and got going, irritated these two chicks waiting for the treadmill because I kept going
12:00 am - back home, put out some fires (kids with drama), fed Emma, showered & dressed, now I can't remember what I did
3:15 pm - went to Wal-Mart, did the shopping
4:20 pm - back home, unloaded & put away groceries, finished baking the cookie dough from the day before, cooked dinner, watched commentary on an episode of Supernatural, hung out with the kids, started sewing on the matching woobie for the pink ladybug quilt.
8:20 pm - Zen came home after five days at Man Camp (very funny name, must blog)
9:00 pm - read scriptures with kids, put kids to bed, then finished woobie, showed Dani, talked with Zen, write blog post
12:30 am - go to bed

Pooped Out

Boy, this week sure caught up with me. I'm physically and mentally tired, so I'm cutting it short tonight

Time Log -

7:30 am - crawled out of bed, so tired, started laundry, exercised, checked online for hairstyles so I could copy one and order a print to take with me to my hair appt., fed Emma, dressed her, then I showered & dressed
10:10 am - looking online at various things, was going to go to Wal-Mart to pick up my print, but baby got cranky, so I put her down for a nap
10:35 am - ate breakfast, looked online at designs for "woobies" (the little square blankets, anywhere from 12" to 18" square, with ribbon loops all around the edges), most places call them "taggies" or "lovies", also looked at the dies at Accucut for making rag quilts (they cut the block and the fringe all at once, BIG time saver), I was going to order some, so I could hurry and make a few rag quilts for this Project Linus thing, but they weren't quite what I wanted, so I will bag that project for a later date, when I can invest the time and money in what I really want, also talked to Sue on the phone
12:10 am - I think the week caught up with me, and I was really tired, so I took a nap in the tv room while Connor watched tv and played toys
1:45 pm - Emma woke up, and I messed around some
2:10 pm - got the mail outside, and worked on bills
3:45 pm - checked some things online
4:10 pm - left to pick up my prints at Wal-Mart before my hair appt
4:35 pm - my hair appt, my stylist's name was Sue, she's been cutting hair for 20 years, much better cut than the last time. Remember?
5:10 pm to 8:15 pm - back home, alternated between taking care of fussy baby and finishing the pink ladybug blanket (I really wish I could keep it, I put a lot of hours into it, and it's so cute, might have to make another one for Emma), also dropped Gil off at the college to watch the musical Aida for the third time, he has a serious thing for the stage, ever since Brigadoon
8:15 to 8:45 pm - fed Emma, bathed her and put her to bed
8:45 pm to 10:00 pm - write blog post, look at rag quilts online, then goof off for the rest of the night, might have to go pick up Gil from the play, read fam blogs, must comment on them tomorrow, sooooo tired...

Better than last time, but still not there. Should I get the bottom cut off, and just get a short bob that ends right above my ears?

Project Linus

Packed up the kids this morning, and about half the house, to head over to the church to work on "Project Linus", a service project our Relief Society is participating in. It's being organized on a larger scale, at least county-wide, for the families of National Guardsmen, who are being deployed in a month or two to Iraq. The intent is to collect blankets for children, ages babies up through teenagers. Today was a Project Linus day, where several of us gathered in the church gym, and worked on blankets.

Lady named April, who make a fleece blanket. Most of the ladies make fleece blankets, which is easy because you just buy the fleece and cut a fringe around the edge. But, no, I'm picky and have to sew flannel blankets. It's my thing.

Time Log -

6:00 am - alarm went off, totally lazed around in bed until 6:45, when Gil came in for lunch money
6:45 am - start a load of laundry, exercise, feed Emma, shower, get dressed
8:30 am - dress Emma, start packing a bunch of stuff to go to the church for Project Linus (see pic above of all my junk I brought with me), collect fabric, sewing machine etc, kids' toys, diaper bag, snacks & milk for the day, movies for Connor, & then pack car
10:15 am to 3:15 pm - arrived at church, set up, cut fabric, & sewed. I almost finished the pink ladybug blanket, but I ran out of thread, so I got the blue & yellow dog blanket cut out
3:15 pm to 5:30 pm - unpack car & put things away, do end-of-year tax reports for daycare clients, check bills
5:30 pm to 6:20 pm - shopping at Wal-Mart & Dollar Tree
6:20 pm to 8:15 pm - cook Dinner, eat dinner, feed Emma, make more cookie dough, make treats for visiting teaching
8:15 to 9:25 pm - drop off visiting teaching treats & some of the tax reports to a few of my daycare clients, lastly stopped at Wal-Mart again because I forgot to buy the thread earlier (aaargh!)
9:25 pm to 10:00 pm - get the kids ready for bed, read scriptures with kids
10:00 pm to 11:35 pm - write my blog post, check a few things on the computer (I'm scheming some more blanket projects and Mother's Day mini scrapbook album projects)

Over the Hill, and Through the Woods, to Susie's House We Go...

Went to Sue's house in Cokeville today, to bring her our kids' craft table set, and our karaoke machine for Lily's birthday. Dani got it for Christmas a few years ago (or was that last year?). Once the Wii showed up, the karaoke started collecting dust. Now that Dani got a singing/dancing game for the Wii, we decided that it was time to give the karaoke machine to Lily, who can now have a blast with it!

Dan was Martha Stewart today, wrapping presents (hope Susie took pictures, he was telling me his mother used to professionally wrap presents when he was a kid). I love how he and Amelia colored the karaoke box, which was kind of too big to wrap.
Amelia was shockingly cooperative today, and I don't think I saw the classic evil-eye pout once. She was a real ham for my camera.
Lily got home from school right before I left, so I made 'em pose with the craft table. Good sports.

Time Log for today:

6:30 am - wake up, change laundry (will it ever go away?!), fold laundry, exercise, shower, get dressed, feed Emma, bag the cooked hamburger for the freezer, wash the pans
8:45 am - start loading the car to go to Sue's, pack diaper bag, round up all the stuff I'm taking to Sue (kids' craft table & chairs, karaoke machine, soothie binkies, kids' craft supplies left over from daycare), get kids ready to go)
10:10 am - go to Wal-Mart to get shopping done for me & Sue
11:00 am - head out of town, realize I forgot some things right as I got on the freeway, I went back, and also picked up microphone adapters at Radio Shack
11:30 am - back on the road for real this time
1:30 pm - got to Sue's after a few potty break stops for Connor by the side of the road (you can do that when you travel out in the middle of nowhere), unloaded the car, hung out with Sue and the kids while she decorated a cake for Lily's party (very impressive, I hope she posts pics in the next few days)
3:20 pm - back on the road, stopped about 30 miles outside of Cokeville and picked up red rocks. There's this great hillside that sheds dark red clay rocks, I'll have to pick up some more for my yard.
5:20 pm - Got back home, had to talk to the two teenagers, who nearly killed each other while I was gone, lots of drama, unloaded the car, cooked mac & cheese (it can't all be beef stroganoff, which I made Sunday from scratch, very yummy), took pics of Emma on the stairs, first time she climbed to the top
6:35 pm - went visiting teaching
7:00 pm - back home, one sister wasn't there, plan on bringing treats tomorrow night, watched American Idol, fed Emma
8:00 pm - downloaded pics, started blogging, got Emma a bath & put her to bed
8:30 pm - played Blue's Clues Memory with Connor for the first time, he was very excited, Gil teased me again about a dirty house, and I reminded him how I'd lost my $2000 a month daycare job, and had to be the Mom and try to get an eBay store up and running, just can't keep a perfectly clean house, so wise boy that he is, he swept the kitchen floor, picked up the tv room, and vacuumed my paper shredding mess I just hadn't cleaned up in two days
9:15 pm - we read scriptures, I got Connor ready for bed
9:40 pm - back downstairs to my craftroom to finish by blog post for the day
11:15 pm - fall into bed
